Fascinating. I was on the 2008 campaign and exposed to a similar deluge of garbage, although mine was largely cable news, as I was the TV media researcher, watching four TV sets at the same time 15 hours a day. And the 2008 campaign broke me, and broke me fast. War room, pressure, yelling, exhaustion, etc., it fried me. The couple of months I took to heal after I resigned (which I was commanded to do by doctors) were some of the loveliest I can remember, the utter relief of it all.

The shame was always there of course. But that’s a loooong story.
